Some of you that have followed me for awhile know that one of my hobbies is recreating Norman Rockwell pieces. He is one of my favourite artist/storytellers.
There is a reason for that! When my late grandmother turned 80, a few decades ago my stepfather gifted her this print by Mr Rockwell. He built a special frame for it, which am happy to say hangs in my house. It was titled "The Surprise" and it featured a lady that was a teacher in a one room schoolhouse named Miss Jones. She bore a striking resemblance to my darling grandmother, who also taught in a one room schoolhouse and was ALSO named Miss Jones!
It was as though Mr Rockwell made a trip to a small school near Wyevale Ontario to paint a picture of her.
After that, I got sooo much joy by recreating some of his paintings, because I want so much to recreate this one. She definitely belongs in my strong women project, she was the strongest I ever knew. I am not stopping anytime soon, stay tuned for more
